An Assistant Legal Officer in Burmese Orchid operates within a dynamic and mission-driven setting. They collaborate closely with a diverse team, including legal counsel, program managers, and youth activists. This role involves liaising with external stakeholders such as government agencies, NGOs, and community organisations. Duties

An Assistant Legal Officer in Burmese Orchid typically performs a variety of duties, including:

  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conducting in-depth legal research on environmental laws, regulations, and policies relevant to the organisation's work. Analysing complex legal issues and providing concise summaries and recommendations.
  • Document Drafting and Review: Preparing and reviewing legal documents such as contracts, agreements, grant applications, and policy documents. Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organisational standards.
  • Case Management: Assisting with the management of legal cases, including gathering evidence, preparing legal briefs, and coordinating with external counsel.
  • Policy Development: Contributing to the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures related to legal and compliance matters.
  • Community Outreach and Education: Participating in community outreach and education programs to raise awareness about environmental issues and legal rights. Providing legal advice and support to youth activists and community members.
  • Administrative Tasks: Handling administrative tasks such as filing, record-keeping, and scheduling.
  • Project Management: Assisting with the management of legal projects, including tracking deadlines, coordinating tasks, and reporting on progress.
  • Collaboration with Team Members: Working closely with other team members, including program managers, youth activists, and external partners, to ensure effective coordination and implementation of legal strategies.

  • Candidates may request a letter of recommendation only after serving for at least four months.
